ÍNDICE DE DENTES CARIADOS, PERDIDOS E OBTURADOS ENTRE ATLETAS DE FUTEBOL DE CATEGORIAS DE BASE

O Brasil é conhecido como o país do futebol, tornando-se referência em revelar vários craques pelo mundo inteiro. Para uma criança que pretende se tornar atleta, todas as variáveis que possam interferir no desempenho devem ser consideradas. O presente estudo teve como objetivo principal investigar a prevalência de cárie dentária, dentes perdidos e obturados entre atletas de futebol de categorias de base do Ceará Sporting Club. Trata-se de um estudo observacional e transversal com abordagem quantitativa. Foram selecionados 60 atletas de futebol das categorias de base sub-8, sub-9 e sub-10. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre os meses de setembro e outubro de 2023. O instrumento consistiu em um formulário contendo perguntas fechadas, tais como: idade; como é a sua alimentação; quantas vezes escova os dentes por dia (1x,2x,3x), além do exame clínico, onde foram contabilizados os dentes cariados, perdidos e obturados dos participantes da pesquisa, sendo calculados os índices CPO-D e ceo-d de cada atleta das categorias de base. Para que houvesse padronização nos dados que foram obtidos, o questionário e o exame foram realizados sempre por um mesmo operador. A idade dos atletas variou entre 6 e 10 anos, com maior CPO-D entre aqueles com 10 anos de idade. A média do CPO-D foi de 0,67±0,82 dentes, enquanto no ceo-d foi observada uma média bem maior (1,65±1,63 dentes). Portanto, dentes cariados, ausentes e obturados dos atletas da categoria de base do Ceará Sporting Clube na dentição permanente têm uma prevalência menor quando comparados aos dentes decíduos.

Brazil is known as the country of football, becoming a reference in revealing several stars around the world. For a child who intends to become an athlete, all variables that may interfere with performance must be considered. The main objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of tooth decay, missing and filled teeth among youth football athletes from the Ceará Sporting Club. This is an observational and cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. 60 football athletes from the under-8, under-9 and under-10 youth categories were selected. Data collection took place between September and October 2023. The instrument consisted of a form containing closed questions, such as: age; what your diet is like; how many times you brush your teeth per day (1x,2x,3x), in addition to the clinical examination, where the decayed, lost and filled teeth of the research participants were counted, and the DMFT and dmft indexes of each athlete were calculated base categories. To ensure standardization of the data obtained, the questionnaire and examination were always carried out by the same operator. The athletes' ages ranged between 6 and 10 years old, with the highest DMFT among those aged 10 years old. The average DMFT-D was 0.67±0.82 teeth, while a much higher average was observed in dmft-d (1.65±1.63 teeth). Therefore, decayed, missing and filled teeth of athletes in the Ceará Sporting Club youth category in the permanent dentition have a lower prevalence when compared to deciduous teeth.
